Diran Peak Expedition Overview
Diran Peak is located between Rakaposhi and Haramosh in the Karakoram mountain range. It is close to the Minapin, Hinarchi, and Baultar glaciers. In Pakistan, there are two names: Diran Peak and Minapin Peak.
You can reach the peak from Gilgit by taking the Karakoram Highway. You will pass through Nagar and then go to Minapin-Gutens-Hapakun Base Camp, where there are beautiful pastures. From Diran Peak, you can see the lovely valleys of Nagar and the surrounding area. This peak is known for its strong storms and the chance of avalanches.
In 1959, a German team tried to climb Diran Peak, and an Australian team attempted it in 1964. Both teams could not reach the top because of bad weather. However, in 1968, three Austrian climbers—Rainer Goeschl, Rudolph Pischinger, and Hanns Schell—successfully climbed Diran Peak.

Important Notes
1. Why You Should Register Early: Building a strong climbing team takes time and careful selection. We carefully review all applications to ensure we create a team that focuses on safety and experience. Our top priority is the safety of all climbers so that we won’t accept every application.
2. Logistics Matter: Climbing trips need a lot of planning. This includes booking high-altitude porters, guides, and other important staff ahead of time. We also need to buy equipment and supplies early, especially for winter trips when bad weather can make it hard to transport supplies to the base camp.
3. Permit Requirements: According to Pakistani government rules, we must submit all climbing permit applications, including documents like passport copies and CVs, at least 70 days before you arrive in Pakistan.
4. Limited Domestic Flights: Paying your deposit on time is crucial for getting domestic flights to Skardu. There are only two flights a day during peak season, and they fill up quickly. To secure your spot, make sure to pay your deposit promptly.
5. Early Bird Prices: The prices listed include early bird discounts and may change after January. Hotels and services often raise their prices during peak season (May to September). By paying your deposit, you lock in your price and avoid any increases.
6. Deposit Schedule: Here is the deposit schedule for 2025 trips:
- 8 months before departure: 35% deposit
- 6 months before departure: 40% deposit
- 5 months before departure: 50% deposit
- 4 months before departure: Full payment due
These deadlines apply to all trips.
Refund Policy:
- Deposit: Once paid, the deposit is non-refundable. It is used for arrangements in the country, logistics, equipment, and staff.
- Balance Payments: Remaining payments are due 120 days before arrival. If you miss this deadline, you might lose your funds and your spot on the trip. No refunds are available for deposits or balance payments, even if the trip doesn’t reach the summit due to weather or other issues.
-
Currency: All international climbers will be charged in US Dollars (USD).
Other Notes:
-
- Only pay your deposit after completing the registration form and getting confirmation from Apricot Tours.
-
- Due to the high costs of permits, we have a strict refund policy.
-
- If you leave an active expedition for any reason, you will not receive a refund.
-
- We strongly recommend getting trip cancellation insurance for all expeditions.
